In Bengaluru the right purifier depends on your water source. Borewell and tanker water behave very differently from Cauvery/corporation water. Here's how to match the technology to what comes out of your tap.
High-TDS water (borewell, tanker) needs RO — reverse osmosis is the only method that removes dissolved salts and hardness. Low-TDS water (Cauvery, corporation supply) can use UV + UF, which kills microbes and removes particles without stripping minerals. Most Bengaluru homes on borewell should choose RO.
RO removes minerals along with impurities, so many models add them back: copper for taste and traditional benefits, alkaline for pH balance. A worthwhile upgrade if your family cares about how the water tastes.
An 8–10 L tank suits most families. Look at filter life and local service too. Not sure of your TDS? We can guide you — bring a sample reading or tell us your locality and source, and we'll recommend RO vs UV at any of our stores.
If you're on borewell or tanker water (high TDS), yes. On Cauvery/corporation water (low TDS), a UV+UF purifier is enough and keeps the natural minerals.
UV uses ultraviolet light to kill bacteria and viruses; UF (ultrafiltration) uses a fine membrane to remove particles and cysts. Many purifiers combine both.
Both are taste-and-wellness upgrades on top of purification. Copper adds a traditional mineral benefit; alkaline balances pH. Neither replaces proper RO/UV purification.
